which model switch will be tested?

I'm reading Lammel's 2nd edition ccna fast pass. It mentions switch 1900 and 2950. I know 1900 is way too old. Then it's enough to focus on 2950 only? Is there any official documentation to confirm this?

1900 command names are much different than 2950's. It's really freaking me out trying to memorize both...

I believe the IOS version on the exams is 12.2. Don't quote me on that, I read it somewhere a while back.

I would stick with the 2950 and you'll be just fine. Memorizing old commands is a waste of time imo.

    not recommended =/

remember, you aren't doing this just for exam. You might not even see 1900's in production! @_@

For CCNA switching I only used 2950 switches.

The 1900 switches are still on the market and probably cheaper than the 2950's, so you may encounter them when configuring SOHO networks, but they have fewer capabilities than the 2950's and are obsolete in enterprise networks. Just concentrate on the 2950 for the test.

I just used a couple of 2950s. In the Netacademy courses I took we also used 2950s in those as well. Even when using packet tracer for the labs.
