Loopback interface on Layer 2 switch
Hello all,
Question: Is it possible to configure a loopback interface on a layer 2 switch and assign an IP to the loopback interface to act as the management interface for the switch. Our company is looking to standardize the management interface on all networking devices. I like the idea of using a loopback interface as a management interface for SNMP/Telneting/network managemnet purposes. In order to stay consistent I would like to implement a loopback interface on all network devices including layer two switches. Is this possible. The alternative would be to designate a managemenet VLAN and apply the SVI on all switches within the network.
Let me know,
Thanks
