Offered a retainer for my MCP ID

A recruiter from an IT consulting company approached me and offered me a retainer fee for associating my MCP ID with them for 90 days. They are bidding on some federal project that requires people with my certs and skill set. I don't know anyone who has done this so I'm reaching out to my TE people for comments or horror stories, etc.
The terms indicate that they will pay the retainer after I sign a one page contract and send them an invoice. I get to keep my retainer unless I dissociate my MCP ID before the 90 day mark. If they don't get the contract, we part ways. If they do get it, they may or may not extend an offer for professional services. I'm not looking for a job so this is fine by me.
I am open to the idea of the retainer as it is easy money and I've never had the need to associate my MCP ID with any of my employers. I researched the company and definitely seems legit. No red flags so far. Let me know what you think.

Hopefully someone else has encountered this and can advise. Otherwise, I would definitely contact Microsoft. If MS says it is okay, then go for it. You can disassociate your MCP ID at any time. -

And if Microsoft says it's ok I'd still get it in writing from them. Just to be safe.2012 Certification Goals
