Christmas Light Show with Music?

So I know this is a bit off topic (still technology related however), but I was wondering if anyone here runs a LOR, Mr. Christmas, or Gemmy Holiday Light show for either Halloween or Christmas?

I just ordered my 1st music unit (Gemmy), as the wife wouldn't authorize the higher end Lights-O-Rama unit (unfortunately).

Still excited to play around with it in a few days, and start setting up some lights for Halloween. The unit I got has MP3 integration so I can utilize my own music for syncronization (although it's likely not as well synced as the integrated songs).

I saw some cool videos on YouTube with the Gemmy so I figured for $80 why not give it a shot. I'm not running LED lights though so I will likely need to upgrade the fuse or try to follow along with the recommended strand amounts.

I have a guy where I live that does this every year. Tour companies run buses by his house. He takes donations and gives it to charity. His entire yard and house from top to bottom is synced with lights, and then music is broadcast on low power fm frequency. Pretty cool display.

Yea I would love to have a professional setup. If mine comes out good, I will probably add a FM transmitter also. I'm sure the neighbors won't want the speaker going all the time. Sad I can only use 6 channels but it's a start.

I bet he has a nice LOR setup as you can have tons of channels and lots of lights. I wanted this 16 channel LOR system, which isn't too crazy @ $259. You can daisy chain them, each adding 16 more channels. The 30-amp rating means lots of lights.

My only intimidation is making the synchronization of the tunes with the software as I don't want to pay $30 a song. Although I'm sure once I got started I would be fine.

When I bought my first house after getting married our first Christmas I was like "OMG I AM SO GOING TO DECORATE THE HOUSE WITH LIGHTS".

    Now?

Wreath in the window and lights on some bushes.... I just hate taking them down....

Going to decorate this year though since my son is three and loves lights.

Haha that's awesome. I don't mind putting them up/taking them down. I leave the mini clips up so it's pretty fast to throw them up.

I would pay extra for bio degradable Christmas lights, they last until a week after New Years and then degrade into sawdust.

Just wanted to post a video of my Gemmy Holiday Light Show. For $80, I definitely like it.
