Cat 6509 Hybrid or Native OS - How they function. MSFC2/SUP2
Hi Guys,
I have an Sup-2/MSFC2 6509 with 32mb of flash on both the sup and the MSFC2 card. A 64MB PCMCIA card is on it's way for the larger IOS I plan on using (s222-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF17)
The Sup has 256MB ram and so does the MSFC, in total to make the 512MB size.
My question is, How do i go about upgrading the 6509 to Native IOS from hybrid IOS? - The MSFC2 card uses IOS 12.2 as it's OS, but the Sup2 uses the Catalyst OS. I read somewhere that you need to boot the native IOS from the sup console boot variable, which in turn then also gives access to the MSFC2 cards feature set, making the effective result one IOS image for both the sup and the MSFC2 card.

Thanks Froggy, but i have been using that. I would appreciate an easy description of why the ROMMON loads different bootflash up when reset. for example, sometimes i get sup bootflash and othertimes i get MSFC2 bootflash. making no sense to me. im probably not realising something -.-~ wedge1988 ~ IdioT Certified~
