I am thinking about learning about databases and really have to start from scratch. Is it worth starting with Access and then moving into other database systems?

Outstanding book for a beginner to learn about tables, normalization and basic SQL. You will need other books to learn about indexes, views, functions, stored procedures, jobs, triggers, ect. When you go the extra mile, there's no traffic. -
