Help with repairing corrupt Outlook Express DBX files

I have been asked to recover some emails from an Outlook Express account but Outlook will not open so I copied the DBX files to another computer but when I place the DBX files in the outlook folder Outlook fails to start and says you are out of hard disk space or memory. I have managed to restore some of the dbx files 1 by 1 like the deleted items etc but the inbox and sent items that I need causes outlook to crash. Is there any tools I can repair or at least split the files to smaller files so I can try see if I can recover the emails I need from the good parts? On the internet I can only find .pst repair tools but no free ones for .dbx
