Anyone see this ultrabook? It has nice specs and a pretty impressive design. The only thing that is a deal breaker is the battery life, only 4-5 hrs.....unacceptable.

I also found it interesting to not have a track pad, then I came up with a question I will ask you guys. Do you really need a track pad when you have touch screen?

I am not buying this or interested in buying it, I just came across it and thought I would share.

I'd never buy a lap top without a track pad even if it was touch screen. I can see myself getting very frustrated. I guess a mouse can be substituted but thats one more thing to have to worry about forgetting.

It's pretty much sony's MS surface so i'm not sure what the complaints are. It's a touchscreen tablet with an I5 why would it have a trackpad or extreme battery life on a high end processor in the first place.

If it's labeled as an 'ultrabook' I would expect it to have lap top like features like the other ultrabooks on the market like a functional track pad. If its a tablet with a keyboard then that's a different story but I don't think that is the case here.

It seems to be marketed as a tablet/laptop hybrid.

    AKA, a tablet that comes w/ a keyboard w/ laptop-like specs.

Yeah they call it an ultrabook, I can see why they got rid of the track pad for size reasons but also because it is a touch screen but I would not want to always have to touch the screen to do stuff. The eraser head in the middle of the keyboard devices I remember from my old ThinkPad drove me nuts.

An ultrabook is a device that has the portability of a tablet with the power of a laptop. Laptop like features are the RAM, OS, processor a trackpad is not an integral part of a touchscreen device. You could call the surface an ultrabook as well it really doesn't change anything. It has a usb port so its not as if someone couldn't plug in a mouse. I just consider it a non factor for purchasing.

The Sony VAIO is the only ultrabook out there that I have seen that doesn't have a track pad regardless of touch screen. I think it's a big miss on this product if they are trying to market it as an ultra portable laptop which is what an ultrabook is.

Obviously whether that is a factor in purchasing is a personal opinion though.
