Job prospects for a network engineer in Hawaii?

There is a possibility I'll be moving to Oahu/Hawaii in the future and I was wondering how the job market there is for a network engineer. I hope to pass the CCIE lab before the move, but I think most companies in their tourism economy won't have need for those skills. Would a VAR or MSP be my best shot? How about government or government contractors? It seems most of those require an existing security clearance rather than offering to sponsor the candidate though.

According to some cost of living calculators, companies pay a lower salary in Hawaii compared to California while cost of living is 20% higher. Are these reflective of reality and should I expect to be paid much lower?
