I got a couple of PM's more than usual this week..so I present you a 16 minute video on setting up GNS3 (importing images, setting IDLEPC values, adding links between devices, and adding modules to slots on devices). Enjoy!

altdrugz Member Posts: 69 ■■□□□□□□□□I still dont understand how the IDLE-PC actually works and what it does. Google doesnt help neither Does IDLE-PC value allocates all the process to a single core of a CPU or what ? :S

QHalo Member Posts: 1,488Dynamips/Dynagen has no idea when a device is truly idle. The way I've always set it up is to boot the router and allow it to finish loading and bascially be as idle as possible. Then run get the idle PC value and put it in. This lowers your CPU utilization because Dynamips/Dynagen now knows when a device is technically idle.
GNS3 is just a front end for dynamips.
