Resources for exam
Hi everyone
Need some help.I studied security+ before and I'm completely familiar with the topics.I wanna take this exam in 3 months and there is no way in my area to get Darill's book as it is recommended by almost all of you. What other resources would you recommend that is as good as his book to prepare for the exam? And is 3 month good to get prepared, considering that I have some background?
Thanks in advance

I had passed my Sec+ using the Sybex and Syngress Press book and Google along with this site http://www.techotopia.com/index.php/Security%2B_Essentials.
I would also recommend you Professor Messers Videos - they have wide range of CBT's for the Sec+ exam which is free .
for the preparation time line - 3 months should be good enough to prepare and take this exam as you mentioned you are already familiar with the topics

If you list the books that are available to you where you live, other people might be able to comment on their usefulness. Also, you might like to go through these blogs: Get Certified Get Ahead | Blogs on Security+ certification. They are primarily focused on Security+ topics.
Good luck. -

Books like this are available. The problem is they are a little outdated.
Amazon.com: CompTIA Security+ All-in-One Exam Guide, Second Edition (Exam SY0-201) (9780071601276): Gregory White, Wm. Arthur Conklin, Dwayne Williams, Roger Davis, Chuck Cothren: Books
And I've read this before:
CompTIA Security+ 2008 In Depth: Mark Ciampa: 9781598638134: Amazon.com: Books
And the book from Sybex is also available. -
Darril Member Posts: 1,588It looks like both books you listed are for the SY0-201 exam but the current exam is the SY0-301. The objectives are different so you'll have a lot of holes to fill in. What exam is the Sybex book for? Are there any books available where you live that cover the SY0-301 objectives?

I've read this book and Darril's book and both are excellent resources, in different ways. Darril's book is easier to read, while the Conklin/White book goes into more depth in most areas. I haven't taken the exam yet, so I can't tell you if the Conklin/White book is overkill or not.If you like my comments or questions, you can show appreciation by clicking on the reputation badge/star icon near the lower left of my post. -
