SSCP - Is it worth it?
mang109
So, I have 2.5 years experience, just passed CISA exam, and I'm looking for my next challenge.
I really enjoyed the security aspects of CISA, so would like to do a security certificate.
To me SSCP seems like a good option, as it only has a 1 year experience requirment, compared to CISSPs 5 years.
But is SSCP worth it? or would I be better off just getting the CISSP exam out of the way and waiting for my experience to clock up?
Thanks for any responses.

It depends, but generally no.
If your eventual goal is to take the CISSP, the SSCP is very worthwhile as a real world practice exam.
Otherwise, few recruiters know about it, and from a certain perspective it's really a lower rung of a different ladder from the CISA. Keep in mind that you'd have to pay maintenance fee as well.

It really depends on what "worth" you are looking out of the SSCP cert. For the knowledge and practicing for the CISSP it is certainly worth it. For recognition from the Information Security community, the SSCP is not the CISSP/CISA/CISM, but it does get you some cred. How many hiring managers recognize the SSCP can be determined by searching for "SSCP" in the postings on popular job boards boards. This is usually the best measure of any certification's employment worth.
