New Phone installation

I want to register/connect a new model of phone to a CME (4.2) that's never been used on the router before.
Is it just a case of downloading the firmware files, and uploading them to the CME? Where should I be installing them? Not something I've done before so unsure of the best practices. All other phone files were uploaded a long time ago.
Anything I need to look out for?

Check for phone firmware on Cisco website. use its documentation to upload firmware on CME router. I remember one should also configure alias on CME to tell the phone where to find the firmware, when they boot.
