Failed with a 789. First time taking a certification test.
Im confident when I retake the test I will pass.
I also must say that Sybex and Cisco Press, Transcender, Boson Netsim completely fail to teach Nat/Pat.
Transcender was good and right on with a lot of questions. But I must say that transender falls short interms of complexity.
The Test was very numbery and i had plenty of questions that displayed NAT and PAT, and all of my resources failed to teach this.
I know i have to study the terms Inbound/Outbound for ACL's and Nat/Pat much better and I should pass no problem.
If I was to reccomend study for someone:
1. KNOW NAT/PAT WELL!
2. Study IP addressing well. Choose to study harder IP addressing. Dont limit yourself to simple Class C addressing. Know Class B ranging from 16-30 Bit mask well.
3. Don't get cought with trick questions. Remember if It shows 6 host remember to count the Routers interface and make sure the Routers interface doesn't go on the braodcast address of that subnet. This can be easly over looked.
I finished with about 25minutes left on the exam. I spent 20 minutes on the simulator because I couldnt figure out a fraking show commands.
The best example of the simulation you will face on the exam is at www.cisco.com in the CCNA prep center. Use the simulator their because it looks and acts just liek the one on the test.
Use Tab and ? worked fine. If you type in a command it it displays that function does not work on the exam, obviously you are typing in the wrong command. If a command does work and te question mark doesn't, your probly typing in the right command.
Good luck everyone!

johnnynodough Member Posts: 634What version of Sybex and Cisco Press books did you use? Mine cover NAT/PAt well. No NAT/PAt in Boson Netsim, but thats what I have my lab for, the many blanks that are in the Netsim.Go Hawks - 7 and 2

Webmaster Admin Posts: 10,292 AdminThe following article and the links in it served me well when studying NAT for the BSCI exam, and should contain all you need to know about it for the CCNA exam:

Good luck on your next try! You came pretty close for a first time taking a certification test, but also for a first time taking the CCNA exam, which is hard even for people who've taken many cert exams before.
