MCITP being retired already?
Deano1977
Hi Guys,
I'm just looking to start my MS certification journey and was looking at the MCITP as a good starting point but i've read that MS are retiring the MCITP already in favour of returning to the MCSE.
Does anybody know whether you can still doing the inidividual exams and still gain the TS certification? Do they count towards an MCSE after July 2013?
Many thanks,
Dean

I think they pushed the date back to January 31st of 2014 if I'm not mistaken.
EDIT: It looks as though only the MCITP: EA/SA are the only ones pushed back.

Specific exams are retiring, including 70-647 and 70-643, which are required for MCITP:EA. Several MCITP titles will not be achievable after July of this year. This has not been pushed back at all according the the MCITP page:
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
For most MCITP titles, they have been replaced by an MCSA title. MCITP:EDST and DA are replaced by MCSA: Windows 7, while MCITP:SA is replaced by MCSA Windows Server 2008.

It looks like MCITP:EA and MCITP:SA will have the MCSA title. The upgrade to Server 2012 is the same for both of these.
The 70-646 es will still be available but unless they have made adjustments to the exam there is quite a bit of info from the 70-643 on the 646 exam.
