How hard is it to get a job in the IT industry with a criminal record? Is it possible at all??

How many of you has successfully done it?

    I have ssen people do this but that was in the "good old days" (tm).

    Depending on the type of record it can be tough to impossible.
    If your record states stuff like e.g. drug abuse you might be able to explain that.
    If it states stuff like fraud, you better try somewhere else...

    i've seem it to be very forgiving but its depeneding on what you did, also depends on what company your trying to work for

    It depends, are you talking about Mac Users? ... icon_twisted.gif ..jk.

    I have a coworker who has an arrest on his record, but was still able to work for the school district (wasn't a major offence).

    And what type of work you're going to be doing. If it's anything related to security/pentesting it'll be more difficult. Most of the really good security contracts require some level of security clearance. And having recently went through that process, I can tell you that it's brutal even if you don't have a record, I can't imagine doing it again if I had a record. If you've done anything involving finances, don't even think about working for a bank.
