Ebay Equipment for Small Business

Sorry if this has been answered before but my search terms came up with nothing. I'm slightly confused as to Cisco's stance on purchasing used equipment from a small business stand point. For example if I bought at 3560 switch from ebay for use in a business is this frowned upon by cisco? If so, is it possible to make that hardware 'legal' again? Also, is it possible to legally update the IOS on a piece of hardware bought on ebay?

nerdydad Member Posts: 261Eh, how important is network stability for the business? Depending on the model, 3560's have been EOL for like 5 years. If you are really trying to save money, look at getting something like an HP 3500, they have a "lifetime" warranty.
I am not completely opposed to used equipment, but it should still be within the last date of support, at home or in a lab is one thing, but you will never truly save money by shorting your infrastructure, when the network goes down, you are not making sales and you are paying your employees to not do work, how much did you save then?
Unless of course the end game is to keep yourself employed replacing switches. -
krjay Member Posts: 290Well the model number provided was hypothetical. What's their stance on used equipment in general is what I'm looking for2014 Certification Goals: 70-410 [ ] CCNA:S [ ] Linux+ [ ]
