Data Center vs NOC?
Mike-Mike
Anyone have experience working in both a NOC and a Data Center? is there a lot of difference?
I'm more or less a NOC Monitor at this point, and I had a call about a Data Center job, it sounded pretty similar but some differences
what would the career path be for a Data Center? like I would assume NOC Tech/Monitor leads to Network engineer.. what's the career path for a Data Center guy?

In my exp the terms are almost interchangeable. Ive been through several re-orgs where the department names change back and forth between NOC and DCO (Data Center Operations). In my experiance the NOC generally will work/monitor multiple data centers, and other sites, Where a local data center guy will work in only 1 data center. physically moving equipment, racking, stacking, wiring ect.
In my currently role DCO monitors and works on all of our data centers.
