Thinking about making a change
Hi everyone,
I would like to ask some advice. I am thinking about expanding my career. I am a Nurse Practitioner and am getting a little burned out on patient care. I would like to enter the IT side of healthcare but I am not too sure what the best direction is for me to go in. :
I already know that I would like to do some networking/security or maybe even database type work but I am not quite sure where to start. What would be the best cert to start with? Would I have to go back to get a degree? I already have a Master's Degree in Nursing.
Thanks in advance.

You don't need any degrees to get into IT, but your Masters in Nursing will be respected by many hiring managers in the IT field.
The A+ certification is a good place to start. You might like to follow it with the CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician cert which you can read about here: CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician.
I'm betting that if you can master some IT skills you will be highly valued as someone that understands both the medical side of things and the IT side.
Good luck. -

Thanks for the help.WGU - BS Software Development
