RIPv1 doesn't supprot subnetting?

Is it correct that RIPv1 does not do subnetting? The smallest network utilizing RIPv1 would require a class C IP domain, right?

I get this idea because it says the network command would assume the subnet mask by checking the netowork IP entered. And the smallest network IP that we can enter is a class C IP address.

RIPv1 does not communicate subnet mask in the routing updates.

As Networker said, the actual limitation is RIPv1 doesn't communicate subnet masks in routing updates.

If you lab it up, the nuances of that statement may become clear. :)
