Question about SQL VM

What's a good ratio of processing power allocated to the SQL RDMBS / Server OS?

One of our VM's we crash data on was set to 90% database and 10% server allocation. It was dog slow, is this normal?

Just wondering.

90/10 sounds alright, but that really depends on the amount of processors and RAM you have. What do you currently have in total on the VM (cores/RAM)?

We usually leave 2GB for the OS unless it's some kind of app/SQL combo server.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

My contract is over so I have no way of finding out to be honest they probably wouldn't of told me. It was very SILO'd there.

Anyway thanks for the follow up from both of you.
