Question regarding CEUs
Noogah
Greetings, programs!
I just took the A+ exam last week, and passed it. Now I am trying to learn the deep, dark, mystical ways of the Continuing Ed program.
My instructor seemed to believe that I could just retake the exam in three years, and that would renew my certification.
1. Is this true?
2. If it is true, will I still have to pay the CE fees?
3. If I get higher certification, will retaking the exam also renew the lower ones, just like CEUs?
If all of the above is true, it really seems to me a good deal simpler just to retake the exams than to participate in all this CE stuff, and it seems to me that CompTIA has been doing a very good hiding this path...
Thanks so much for your help!

Welcome to the forums. Congratulations on the pass.
The CE program isn't really deep, dark, or mystical. This page has a lot of details:
CompTIA Continuing Education Program
.
Yes, you can retake the exam in three years and avoid the CE fees but that seems like a painful route.
Yes, you can renew a higher certification and this will renew the lower ones. This allows you to move ahead in your career progressively learning more and more.
Hope this helps.

Easiest thing to do would be pay your CE yearly fees, pass any cert that is approved by CompTIA to automatically renew your cert, and enhance your IT knowledge.
