Having console connection problem with one router

I have a used Cisco 1700 router I just bought from Ebay. I use TeraTerm to connect to its Console port.
I was able to connect to it earlier. But suddenly TeraTerm lost the console connection. After I restarted the router, the following message kept coming up and I was not able to connect. I checked the console cable/connection with another router and it works fine. So I'm leaning towards to the idea that something is wrong with this router. But what could it be?
PC = 0xfff17508, Vector = 0x500, SP = 0xff0027a0
*** Console framing error ***

It's rare that something breaks while you're working on it, especially if you say that you have tested the adapter and cable with other devices with no problems.
Do you have another computer with a COM port or the RS232->USB drivers you could test it on? Right now it just seems like trying to isolate the router, cable, or adapter is the biggest problem!
