I am in current preparation for CCENT and have chosen to utilize multiple sources and in doing so I notice that these sources all seem to favor certain topics.

Ex: Certain things will be stressed and mentioned multiple times while another fact remains not as important.

Is there a reason for this? What makes OSI more important than standardization organizations from an exam perspective?

I wouldn't entirely put to much into places that tell you to study certain sections and skip others (or not pay as much attention to) many of Cisco's topics piggy back each other and require a strong understanding of the entire thing (like the foundation to a building)

as for the OSI - I believe they want you to understand the inter-operability of networks and the ability to troubleshoot more than just ... Fact...Fact...Fact...Memorization (although understanding both will always help 'foundation to a building') :P

    Good luck with your studies!
