So I was posting a server on a local classified site and came across an ad that had a Cisco ASA for sale. I read it real quick and thought it said that they where selling a ASA 5505 for $450 so I thought well that's an ok price if it had Sec+ licensing but thought ill pass on it. I looked over the rest of what he had for sale then came back and double checked the ASA again and this time noticed on a closer look that it was a 5510. At this point I was excited and decided to call on it.
The ad was posted by a kid who's dad works for a managed services provider here and he didn't know the value of the items he was selling cause he would just go online and half the price of what he saw on ebay. I guess they buy the equipment for the companies they provide the services for and at the end of the lease they keep the equipment and sell it off. Long story short I bought the 5510 for $450 with Sec+ license, IPS, and content filtering. Thing looks brand new. Its running 8.2 so its not the latest but close enough and still a major score at that price.
When I got to the place to buy it from the dad he asked me what I was going to use it for and I told him I was going to use it for studying and my home lab. He said that's awesome and asked me what I do. I told him a was a Windows Admin and he then said want a better job? I said I am always on the look out. We sat down and talked for about 15 minutes about my career path and what benefits and pay they offer there and then he said, check the website and see if you like any of the open positions and if so let me know and will get you in to talk further. I updated my resume' last night and sent it to him in an email. The jobs seem like I would be working with some awesome tech that I don't get to now and pays more plus pays for any training I want.
Funny thing about all this was I thought to myself before going to pick it up, "Wouldn't it be funny if he offered me a job when I got there cause he sees that I am using this for study and not trying to resale it for money".
Well I don't know what will come of the job side but if nothing happens on that front I am still happy with my purchase and don't have any strong desire to leave my current job so its a win all the way around.

My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for.

He has an idea but he had his son post it who didn't know so when I came in he said you are getting a screaming deal on this. Nothing on the interview front but he is a VP in the company so who knows he could have a bunch of meetings. Either way still happy about the ASA.
