Good day everyone, I am currently in the process of pursuing my Cisco CCNA certification, but I have a question. My Security+ and Network+ certs are to expire in 2014. Without researching it further, and I could be wrong, but I remember reading that there are ways to get continuing education credit and not have to take the exam again to re-certify. Is this correct? If so, can someone give me some sites, suggestions, or a listing of where I can go to get the continuing education? Thanks in advance for any helpful insights.

Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
To-do | In Progress | Completed -

There was a point in time where you could renew/upgrade to the CE program and pay the AMF and add the CEU's. Just make sure to pay the AMF and have notes in case of an audit.
If you are not in the world of iTunes, you can use podcasts from TWIT TV. TWiT Live - netcasts you love, from people you trust These are on iTunes as well.
Other ways of obtaining CEU's /CPE's:
-Webinars
-Reading books
-Studying for an exam
-Attending Security / Networking (ie: Cisco or Juniper) meetings. You may have to pay for membership. In some cases, local chapters
may charge a fee. You company may support your effors or you can write it off on your taxes if you do not use the EZ form.

Is that recognized by Comptia as a way to "renew" or have continuing Ed??? It has always been my mindset to get my CCNA, then go after the initial CCNA-Sec, which is one test....and then transition into the three certs for CCNP. Can anyone else verify this? -
bigdogz Member Posts: 881 ■■■■■■■■□□Yes. CompTia will renew so you can keep your credentials. For Cisco you have to recert, upgrade, or go sideways in certification.

CCNA will renew Net+.
CCNA-Sec will renew Net+ and Sec+.
So, another question. If I am able to get the CCNA-Sec cert before the expiration of the Comptia certs, what is the best route to inform them of that? -
bigdogz Member Posts: 881 ■■■■■■■■□□You have the CCENT. Take the ICND2 for your CCNA exam and then take the 640-554 IINS.

Yeah that's what I intend to do. Reading the links that a lot of you have helped me with...the Network+ that I have falls under the Security+. So anything I do in regards to getting the CCNA-Sec, will validate the CE for Security+ and by default Network+. I also found out I hadn't signed my code of ethics (which I just did) and I will need to pay the renewal fees, which I will do soon.
Hey thanks for all of your helpful insights and links. I really do appreciate this. -
DoubleNNs Member Posts: 2,015 ■■■■■□□□□□Honestly, I'm studying for my CCENT now and haven't gone past my CompTIA trio yet. I'm not 100% sure the route to go - but I'm pretty sure it should be easy to send CompTIA your Cisco transcript. Then you'll probably just ahve to pay the CE fee and the rest will be done automatically.
However, I'm not too sure since I haven't crossed that bridge yet, (SOON tho hopefully!!)Goals for 2018:

Good luck on whichever certs you go after....you look very young, and great to be young and have yourself focused! That is the key to stay focused and don't give up. -
