I hold my Sec+ from April 2010, but need to get an updated one. Do I have to pay the yearly CE fees for credits I wont be taking or can I simply sign up for the newer test and be done with it for another while? I saw one option was to pay the CE fee and then take a new test, but wouldn't just taking the newer test be just as good?

When i passed my Sec+ it updated my net+ automatically w/o having to pay the CE fee. So I'm sure passing the new Sec+ would do the same for you.Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
To-do | In Progress | Completed -

Good luck. -
