Hi guys,
So I'm trying to set up DHCP on my lab
I have two routers:
R1
R2
and to each router I have a switch
On the 2 switches I have set up 2 vlans
SW1 > R1
Vlan 10
Vlan 20
SW2 > R2
Vlan 30
Vlan 40
I have set up a trunk port on the routers and switches and sub int fa on the routers
All is working well, Ive experimented with ACL's etc and felt quite proud of myself that the theory I learnt actually worked when I set it up. So then I thought I would see if I can set up a DHCP server for each vlan on the one router.
So On router 2 I set up the pools for each vlan and....nothing
I thought at this stage I would get IPs getting assigned to the clients connected to at least SW2 (VLAN 30 and 40).
OK so it doesn't work so I know i need some DHCP relay so i used the ip helper with the IP Address of one of r2 sub interfaces command but it still doesn't work.
So my question is...
What interfaces need the ip helper command and what IP address should I be using?
Also is this CCNA or CCNP? The CCNA 100-101 book by Odom explains the above process but CBT nugget skims over it saying it is CCNP..
Thanks
Craig

DCD Member Posts: 475 ■■■■□□□□□□You need to show your configuration. Two questions what does a switch do with a broadcast and what does a router do with a broadcast?
