Vlan is shown adminstratively down while using show ip int br command but not with

i jst took fourr fresh 2950 swithes in packet tracer 6.01.

i hooked them up .. and on one switch i ran sho ip int br and it showed my vlan as adminstratively down .. down ..

wherease show vlan shows it as active ? why?



arent these commands supposed to mean same thign when they speak in regards to down/up status ?

i however have attached two pcs .. one on one switch the other on other switch and can ping each other ..

    VLAN interfaces aka SVIs are not the same thing as a VLAN.

    When you run #show ip interface brief you are seeing interface vlan or Switched Virtual Interface (SVI) : SVI means virtual interface which provides a routed gateway into and out of a VLAN or simply a setup to make communication between different vlans
