Virtual equipment

Hey guys I was wondering if there was any virtual equipment(routers, switches, ect) like maybe a program that can emulate , because I won't have access to actual equipment till mid-August and I don't want to waste money when August is right around the corner. also was wondering if the Odem books came with any virtual equipment I know it said it had simulators but wasn't sure what it meant by that. I get the books tomorrow though. any help is appreciated.

GNS3 is a popular emulator that people use. Not the best on switching, but should get you going until August.
