Free Practice exams

dazl1212dazl1212 Member Posts: 377
Hi I have taken the practice exam on Lammles CCENT book and got 80% would that indicate if I am ready for the test?
Does anybody know of any good free practice exams?
Thanks

In truth - no. You will probably be very nervous when you take the actual exam, and because of that your grade will be lower than what you get on the practice exam.

Aim for the high 90's on the practice exam and make sure that your understanding of the topics is so good that you could explain it to your grandmother with ease.

    Then take your exam.

    Good luck!

Cheers man, my exam is booked for the second of August.
I feel pretty comfortable with all the concepts it just seems a few acronyms and the wording of questions which seems to be catching me out.
I am hoping that reading through exam cram a few times and labbing will get me up to speed

You could try proprofs but you should treat the answers with caution. There's a few practice tests on here although I haven't look at them in any great detail so you will have to check them out. I think the Cisco website has a few practice exams too and some are quite good some are bad.

If you need to do subnetting questions there are quite a few free websites that have questions and answers to help you. I also would suggest if you can afford it getting the Boson exams as these are the best and as close to the real thing as you can get.
I'm an Xpert at nothing apart from remembering useless information that nobody else cares about.

Thanks fella, I wont be able to afford the boson exams before the test unfortunately.
I feel like I'll be ready in time to be honest.
It would just be nice to gauge how ready I am.
Ive got subnetting in my head down, I know I am not quite ready as far as labbing goes.

Try to get more labbing done. Make sure you have CDP down and all your show commands.

I didn't finish the Lammle book, but I know the Odom book included chapters about troubleshooting. The chapters listed some common problems you might encounter on a network, the symptoms you can identify them w/, and also how to diagnose the problem by using various show commands. I know that info was invaluable during the actual exam for me. If the Lammle book has any info like that, I suggest you review that too.

If you can't afford Boson at the moment, then I wouldn't buy any practice test. From what I hear, they are very good and most closely resemble what you would see on the actual exam. You should head over to Cisco's site. They have free assessments for their certification exams. I'm not sure how accurate they are, but depending on your score, it will tell you if you are ready or not. This would be a good start https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/community/certifications/ccna/icnd1?tab=practice

    Not too bad.
Go back and make sure you understand why you got all the wrong answers wrong.
And make sure even on the ones you DID get right, you understand why all the wrong answers were wrong.

Cheers mate, I really need to start doing these practice exams in a quiet environment where I am not disturbed.
At least 5 of them I knew the answer but didn't answer correctly through being distracted.
    I hope I'm ready by Augusticon_shaking.gif

Learning to read the questions/answers accurately but still in a timely manner is a skill.
I know when I first started taking practice exams for the CCENT, the same thing was happening to me. I kept getting questions wrong that in hindsight, I actually knew the answers to. I had to learn to read the questions carefully, filter out unneeded information, and still be patient enough to go thru ALL the answers listed/available.

I'm pretty sure if you're doing around 70% by now you'll blow the exam out of the park by next month. Just have to work on your weak areas. However, I really DO recommend trying your hardest to pick up the Boson practice exam. If you get it before July 31st you can buy it for 25% off by liking the company on Facebook.

However, the practice exam is by no means mandatory. How far are you into studying now? What study resources have you used?

Yeah I agree that is probably mainly what my issue is.
I seem to recall being at a similar stage the month before my N+ and I passed that by some margin.
I have read the CCENT for dummies, Lammles CCNA book but the parts pertaining to ICND1 and labbing in PT.
I was going to brush up using the Exam Cram but it doesnt look that good to be honest.
I have the Mcgraw hill book so I may read that instead

I tried the demo and failed so I guess its not too easy, the price is very good too.

Me too! It will also be my first attempt.

I know you said you don't have the money, but I can't recommend enough how great the Boson tests are. After reading each chapter in the Lammel book, I would take the practice questions, and I would get 90 to 100 percent of the questions correct.

Then I boot up my Boson test, and get a questions asking how much Bauds config reg 0x2102 has... or something like that. I don't remember Lammel ever mentioning something about that. So, yes, the Boson tests have questions that will surprise you.

Lammle's practice test are a little bit too easy IMO. If you don't have Odom's Ciscopress books you might want to get them just for the practice tests. Much more challenging and many tough questions on identifying problems with the network. Boson would be the best choice but I could understand not wanting to spend the extra money.

I'm taking the ICND1 640-822 test next Friday myself too and good luck!

I purchased the Cert Exams Examsim mainly because I just wanted to practice the simlets like you would get on the exam.
I also have Odoms book but its only the second edition. Will have a look at his exams
Good luck to you Carnby and Draught, I hope we are all posting "Passed ICND1!" threads that day!

I haven't gotten to them yet. For the ICND1 I didn't have Odoms book, but I have it for the ICND2.
