No keepalive trick...
To bring an ethernet port to an up/up state while it's NOT plugged in, you can type
no keepalive
on that port.
This worked on my 1760 router but did NOT work on my 3560g switch.
Any ideas why?

powmia Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 322Because Cisco made it that way Just like the autostate trick, it's hit and miss. I've seen the "no keepalive" for ethernet work on more routers than switches... it's just the way it's build. I've also noticed that newer devices typically don't support it.
