I can't get XP to join my domain?

Ok, I seem to be having trouble joining my Win2k3 domain.
Here's the info.
Domain Controller
OS: Win2k3
Server Name: win2k3-server
Domain Name: home-network.com
Static IP address: 192.168.0.10
On the XP computer where I goto control panel, system, computer name, then goto join a domain. I type in home-network.com and it doesn't work. I also tried win2k3-server.home-network.com and that also doesn't work.
Anyone have any ideas? I can ping the server fine from the XP machine.

we've had the same problem before in my classroom networks.
What the hell, that worked.
Thanks.
Hmm when I restarted and logged into the domain it sits at "applying your personal settings" for a very long time. Is it suppose to take this long? It's been like 10minites already.
I have never used .com before. I have used .local when trying to add computers to a network via VPN or an offsite reversed dns location.
