I will be doing CCNA Voice next and looking ahead to what hardware I will need to gather up.

I have several 7960 phones available, are there any "preferred" models?

The 79x1/x2's are prefered for CCNP:V (mainly the security features), but the older and more affordable 7940/60's are still more than capable of getting you through.
