2811 and IOS 12.4.24T not cooperating

Hello folks,

I have been beating my head against a wall trying to load the following IOSs on a 2811 with 256mb of Compact flash and 768k of memory.

These won't load:
c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T8.bin
c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T7.bin
c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T6.bin

This one will: (caveat below)
c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T2.bin

The caveat is when I load c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T2.bin onto my 128MB Compact Flash it loads just fine. If I put that exact same file on the 256MB Compact Flash, it fails. The other T6 - T8 IOSs will not load on either Compact Flash.

I also loaded the images on a USB and the only one I can get to load is a really old ipservices IOS.

Here is the output from the router:

All the documentation says the the router can have a max of 256MB of Compact Flash and 768k of ram. I saw a blog by a fellow that said he was running 12.4.24T8 Advanced Security so I figure this should work as well.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Well, I got it working....sort of. I inserted the new (yea right) 256MB CF cards in the router to format them. Funny thing is, after I formated them, I put them in my PC and they still had a file on them. Weird.

I did get T8 to almost boot, but it hung just after the memory was displayed on bootup. I went down to T7 and it worked. I have it loaded on 2 of the 3 CF cards and loading the 3rd one now. Should be good enough for lab purposes.

I had originally fomatted the CFs with the PC to FAT16, but I guess that didn't work right. I also had to TFTP the IOS onto the CFs. Couldn't get it to work any other way. Maybe I should have used Linux and tried it that way. Oh well, back to labbing!
