Cisco Exams Help Please

Hello,

I am new to the forum, Please help, here is my question.

I've read from Google searches (Some leading to this site) that a lot of people have self-taught Cisco and then taken the exams.

What I don't understand is how the book systems work and how they lead onto one another.

For example there is 100-101, 200-101, 640-554 etc but I can't find exactly which order one should begin and the order they go through.

Right now I just want to start learning and get some qualifications under my belt and see where that leads.

Regards,
SuperNetwork

Rather than looking at book/exam numbers, start with the certification hierarchy from Cisco:

Certifications - IT Certification and Career Paths - Cisco Systems

Cisco certifications follow a progression: Entry > Associate > Professional/Specialist > Expert. Start with the CCENT, which is the entry level cert and can be attained by passing the ICND1 (100-101) exam. From there you can attain CCNA:Routing and Switching by passing the ICND2 (200-101) exam. You can also take the composite CCNA exam out of the gate, but the 2 exam route above is going to be easier if you have no prior networking experience.
    CISSP | CCNA:R&S/Security | MCSA 2003 | A+ S+ | VCP6-DTM | CCA-V CCP-V

Welcome to the forum SuperNetwork. I second what xenodamus has stated. I also would recommend to not just do books but you will need a variety of different study material. You'll want to go with some video training, textbooks AND labs. If you get all three of those together and use them correctly you will do better with understanding all of the different topics.

    Good luck!

You can't? No offense but it should not be that difficult to find this information from a Google search, not to mention Cisco's own website. If you truly cannot find info on the exams then I question your problem solving ability. I am not intending to sound harsh, but problem solving is a necessary skill for most IT certifications, not just Cisco's.

Same thought here. This is a forum in you can find tons of help and advice, and constructive criticism like WilyOne's is an example of how much we are willing to help.
