I had applied for an internal job w/ my company about a week ago,
i forgot to ask when i should hear back if i do or don't get it ect
would it be appropriate to send a short one liner email to ask when I would hear back?

No.
It would be appropriate to send a "thank you" email for the interview, and in it ask when you can expect to hear back (tactfully). -

Don't over think it. Just ask. If they are at the same location walk over and have a talk if they aren't too busy.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made. -

They used to be but they moved to another location but w/in walking distance
