I had applied for an internal job w/ my company about a week ago,
i forgot to ask when i should hear back if i do or don't get it ect
would it be appropriate to send a short one liner email to ask when I would hear back?

It would be appropriate to send a "thank you" email for the interview, and in it ask when you can expect to hear back (tactfully). -

"Thank you for the opportunity to email for the position? When should I expect a response?" -

I just wanted to thank you for a chance to interview for the Account Admin position last week
I know you guys are really busy! I forgot to ask at the end of the interview when you would have a final decision on hiring someone by?
Thank you!
Sincerely,
David B
