Hey guys

I need some advice on my current situation, I am currently one year into my Open University Computing and IT degree, software development and networking pathway. I really am interested in entering the networking industry and would like to sit my CCNA exams in a few months as i am studying for them separately to my degree pathway. The pathway on my degree calender is stating that i wont start my Cisco studies until October 2015 because i have two more courses to take before i reach it.

My question is if i take my CCNA exams separately in a few months time what kind of computing field compliments networking nicely ?

Here are the other pathways i can take with my degree

Business (as a second subject)
Digital technologies and communication (im thinking this would be best)
software development (i was put off this during my first year as we used scratch and i hated it)
Solutions
Computer science

Or would you wait it out and take the CCNA in 2015 and have it recognised as part of a degree? (meh....)

I feel another 2 years of study before i hit my interests is too long. I will continue my degree until the very end regardless of what happens as one of my life goals is to achieve one.

Sorry if this sounds a bit weird but its the best i could explain it icon_wink.gif

Thanks

Billy

Pick something you like and that interests you/you're passionate about - not necessarily the easiest.

scratch isn't a good representation of software development.

I did Computer Systems Engineering and Physics. Took me 13 years part time.
Finally finished in June. I specialised in embedded systems and electronics

I'd learn one language well and do some network programming.
Python is quite easy and has a ton of good libraries.
Its worth learning javascript as well - nodejs and jquery/jquery mobile
The free courses from code school and code academy are quite good.
Goals CCNA by dec 2013, CCNP by end of 2014
