vSphere High Performance Cookbook

Anyone reading this book? I'm about half way through it. A lot of the ideas the author presents are design decisions I was making for my VCDX design. This book is more vSphere optimization while VMware vSphere Design book is focused on building a virtual infrastructure. It's a nice library addition to anyone working with VMware.

Reading this on Safari these days, must say it's a very good book. I have only read a dozen or so pages yet, but some questions I've had on the DCD seem to have been handpicked out of this book!

Just over a week to finish this off before Safari slug me with $22...

Finished reading it. Managed to learn/remember few things. Disagree with some recommendations. Book is best for VCPs looking to jump to VCAP level.

I'll have to rescind my earlier recommendation about this book too. It's exactly what Dave says, good for people moving up to the VCAP level.

You'll be MUCH better served and your money well spent if you bought the Mastering vSphere Design book instead. Almost all (and much more) of the material in the cookbook is contained in the Design book. Additionally, I realize English is not the author's first language - but the editors should've gone in and corrected the grammar, IMO this takes the sheen off the book.

While I'm at it, I'd recommend people read the Managing and Optimizing vSphere Deployments book instead. The design exercise in there is very good.
