Overlapping wireless channels
Hi Guys,
Just a quick question regarding the overlapping of channels, I always thaught that the non overlapping channels should be used when configuring Access Points on a wireless network( IE 1,6 ,11) , in the a sample exam I used, there is a question where you have to configure 3 AP's in 2 different buildings, one of them is on channel 2 and you have to select which channel to use for the other 2 from channel 2 ,4 , & 10, the answer is to use 2 for all of them, and the answer says that "all AP's must be configured with the same encryption and channel" , can anyone explain where to use the same channel and 1,6,11?
Thanks

swild Member Posts: 828It sounds like the answer is wrong. If you allow roaming with a single SSID across several APs, overlapping APs should be on different channels, like this:
If you use the same channel, the APs would cause interference with each other and the client will not be able to connect well, if at all.
