Why not iOS and config put together either on NVRAM or Flash?

theodoxa Member Posts: 1,340 ■■■■□□□□□□Some really old routers [and some newer ones also] had easily removable flash. You could switch out the cards and change the IOS. But, I would guess that most folks wanted to keep the same config even if they changed the IOS. Thusly, they were separated. I'm not sure, but I think that nowadays NVRAM is nothing but a partition in Flash and not really a truly separate memory chip(s) anymore.R&S: CCENT → CCNA → CCNP → CCIE [ ]
