What to do to get an out-of-state job?

What do you guys think is the best way to land a job out-of-state, or even a few hours away? I live in a small little valley, that has no real IT positions, the closest city that would have some is about 2/3 hours away (salt lake city). Although it will be a year or two before I try since I will just be starting WGU in January, I was hoping you guys could give me some tips/ideas on how to do this. Thanks!!!

I'll be trying to do the same thing in a few months; I plan on moving in 2014.

I'll probably try to get a UPS mail box in the city, so that I have a local mailing address. That way, my resume won't immediately be thrown out while applying and I'll be able to still get a few recruiters to mail me. Of course, on 1st contact I'll be honest and let them know that I'm not currently local, but plan on moving and require no moving assistance.

Then I'll attempt to schedule multiple interviews in close succession, take a trip out for a few days, and bang out as many interviews as possible.

However, even if I can't land a job before moving, I still plan on completing the move and just apply harder once I get there. My schedule would be more flexible w/ scheduling and going to interviews when I'm actually local and can go at any time of day.
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

Good idea about the mailbox. I never had much luck applying out of my local market to another.

That is a good idea about the mailbox. I hope it will work for you! Anyone else have experience landing an out-of-state job?
