Sim Comparison

I have never used GNS3 (sp?), but when attending Cisco Network Academy I used PacketTracer.
Is it similar and/or can I just use PacketTracer for my CCNP studies?

It is somewhat similar, but not really the same. Packet Tracer does not support the capabilities needed for CCNP.

Note that GNS3 does not support Switching for CCNP and you are better off using real hardware for this.
