Cisco IP Phone 7960, help.
We have a closed network, 2 core switches, 2 firewalls, 5 servers. My management has recently planned to give the reception guards an IP phone, the reception is approx 300meters from the core servers. Although, there is a shack near by the front reception, we put a switch there, and ran a Cat6 cable to the reception, distance approx 100meters.
The IP Phone is telling us the Ethernet cable is disconnected. But when we bring the IP Phone inside the shack and use a foot long cable the dhcp gives out an address.
We have discussed using a hub to retransmit the signal, but for security reasons we rather leave this for last resort. Any solutions?
