I know of a Linux cert along with Oracle's MySQL, but is there an Apache certification? I can find something for Hadoop but not Apache specifically. Years ago I remember Red Hat considering it, but I dont think it ever materialized. Anyone?

UnixGuy Mod Posts: 4,570 ModNothing that I know of. But configuring a basic webserver (apache) is part of the RHCE objectives.
I think in the LAMP and Linux world in general, experience is more important than certs. -

UnixGuy Mod Posts: 4,570 ModNo worries. I'm interested in LPIC 2, I like how they cover a broad range of topics with great depth. Perhaps LPIC1 should be my next cert!

antielvis Member Posts: 285 ■■■□□□□□□□In my opinion, LPIC-1 is a pretty well rounded & solid cert. I think some people see it as Comptia so they think 'waste of time'. It's a very generalist type exam in which you master nothing but learn to understand the basics of a great deal of things. It doesn't carry the brand name that Red Hat certs do, but I'm not so sure that matters.
I think there is real potential for LPI if they were to spread out. They should develop an entire platform of "all things Linux" certifications. Why not have a full LAMP and LEMP certification? They could associate with Oracle for the MySQL stuff. Certainly creating an Apache or NGINX certification is possible along with a Python/PERL/PHP essentials type cert. -
UnixGuy Mod Posts: 4,570 ModI looked at the LPIC(1,2,3) objectives, and I agree with you. The objectives are solid and they cover a wide range of topics. I think I should do this cert sometime this year!
