Why not just deploy a Linux firewall that has Snort built-in?

well I don't have anything like the pfsense boxes i've seen for sale, more than likely the IDS' will be laptops running security onion. Right now i'm thinking on will be in a logical DMZ created by the uverse router. the other will be behind an ASA on my internal LAN to look for actual risks to my network.
