Google forms and spreadsheet query function

Anyone familiar with Google doc especially the spreadsheet component? Is that there is a type of query you can use to synch into (looks to be a database or a flat file), using jscript. I normally use SQL to populate my spreadsheets, but I am looking for a data collection method and this maybe the piece I am looking for. First I need to be able populate the form with data from the query. Any thoughts or ideas? This maybe way to concept right now.
