National Incentive for Cyber Education

The National Incentive for Cyber Education (NICE - The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE)) and subordinate group the National Incentive for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS - National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS) | NICCS is the one stop shop for cybersecurity information!) was built per President Obama's instruction as a method to create a US government-wide framework for hiring, educating and maintaining knowledge for all government groups (NSA, DOD, CIA, FBI, HS, WH, ect.). As such, the new framework (The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE)) will ultimately replace all current instructions (including the DODD 8570.01) across the US government. This will ultimately affect all IT related jobs with the US government (not just IA/Cyber).

Currently, the certifications are being mapped to the new framework. As certifications are mapped to positions the mappings can be found in the NICE Certification Catalog (Cybersecurity Certification Inventory Overview | National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS)).

Please note that these changes are not enforced at the time of this writing and there is no time frame for it's implementation.

Hopefully soon... it will be nice to have a comprehensive framework that applies to everyone across the board.
