Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Server Hardening Exam (EX413) - Class Review

Hi Again !

I recently joined the Server Hardening Class for the new EX413 exam.

The class is really interesting and more hands on. Unlike the 333 Class this class is mainly about OS Hardening and nothing to do with application or services security.

Day 1 and Day 2 were all about the basics and this course is for RHCE Passed candidates only.

Day 1 is all about the CVE's and how Redhat does the security updates and how they are passed on via the RHN Subscriptions. Also how to validate and apply Software Updates. Validating Package Integrity and the scripts option available for rpm command. Day 2 is all about Creating File Systems , making changes to the super block and making required changes to the fstab. Also securing the file systems.

Day 3 talks about Special Permission suid , sgid and sticky bit. Also about the acl's and the Password policies.

Three more days to go and we should be done with the entire coursebook.

Exam scheduled for the 7th of February. Lot of work to be done.

Just fired up the lab environment on my ESX and raring to go !

Do get in touch for any questions regarding the course and the worth of it !

Cheers
