Route Distinguisher and route target
hitmen
Hi guys,
I refer to the command:
rd 1:1
route-target import 1:1
route-target export 1:1
Am I importing and exporting my own route since it is in the route distinguisher?

The rd is different than the route-target, the rd is used to keep your ip address space unique, it just makes sense to have them match but they don't have to. The route target is an extended community that can be added to the route, so when you export you add the community, in the case above you add community 1:1, and the import basically says you accept routes with that community, so you would have the remote peer export with 1:1.

is it ok if you give an example?
thanks
